Regend Therapeutics Shortlisted for 2026 WIPO Global Awards, Ascending to the World’s Highest Honor in Intellectual Property

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has officially announced the final shortlist for the 2026 WIPO Global Awards.
Regend Therapeutics has been successfully selected among the global top 33, thanks to its pioneering core technology for lung tissue regeneration and a robust intellectual property strategy.
The company stands as the only Chinese start-up in the health sector to make this year’s shortlist.
This milestone coincides with the successful conclusion of the launch meeting for the world’s first Phase III clinical trial of a lung regeneration novel drug.
The two back-to-back achievements fully demonstrate the company’s formidable scientific strength and developmental confidence in the field of lung regenerative medicine.
As one of the most authoritative and prestigious international awards in the intellectual property field, the WIPO Global Award carries exceptional weight.
It serves as a core global benchmark for evaluating a company’s innovation capacity, IP portfolio strategy, and societal value.
This year’s competition was the most intense in the award’s history: WIPO received 1,300 applications from 126 countries, representing a 70% increase over 2025. Ultimately, only 33 outstanding enterprises were shortlisted, yielding an acceptance rate of less than 3%.
The judging panel is composed of world-renowned entrepreneurs, seasoned investors, and authoritative leaders from diverse core industries across the globe.
With stringent evaluation criteria, the panel’s decisions are highly credible. Standing out from thousands of innovative enterprises worldwide signifies not only the strong recognition by an authoritative international body of Regend’s original regenerative medicine technology and autonomous IP system, but also solid evidence that the company remains at the forefront of lung regeneration technology, possessing world-class innovation value.
As the Phase III clinical trial officially commences, this China-originated technology has entered a new phase, taking a critical step toward benefiting patients globally.
Being shortlisted for this award means that Regend Therapeutics has officially joined the WIPO Global Awards Alumni Community.
The company will gain access to globally premier investment institutions, industry accelerator resources, and will participate in international IP strategy exchanges and exclusive business collaboration events.
Leveraging this top-tier global platform, Regend is poised to accelerate the global reach of China’s original regenerative medicine technology.
It is worth noting that Unitree Robotics, a Chinese company shortlisted for the 2025 WIPO Global Awards, has since become a veritable benchmark IP enterprise in China’s robotics sector, highlighting the robust technological strength of Chinese innovation.
The final winners of the 2026 WIPO Global Awards will be announced on July 10 during the WIPO General Assembly in Geneva. The final winners will receive dedicated IP business empowerment guidance, long-term incubation support, and will be recognized before representatives from all 194 WIPO member states.
